Amazon’s New Sidewalk Shares Your Internet With Neighbors

A new effort by Amazon to extend the reach of the cameras, lights, motion sensors, and other devices created by Santa Monica-based Ring will share a portion of your Internet with neighbors, according to Amazon. Amazon said its new service, Amazon Sidewalk, is a shared network to help devices like Amazon Echo devices, Ring Security Cams, outdoor lights, motion sensors, and Tile trackers work better. The company said the network will help devices stay online–even if they are outside a user’s Wi-Fi network. Amazon offers up users a way to opt out of the network.
