Santa Monica-based agricultural robotics startup Future Acres says it has signed a collaboration agreement with global plant variety breeder and genetics licensor Sun World International to further develop its proprietary technology, the company said this morning. Financial details of the collaboration were not announced. Future Acres said the deal will include an initial testing and pilot program at Sun World's International Center for Innovation and will include collaborative commercialization of Future Acres with Sun World's growers. Future Acres is backed by Wavemaker Partners, as well as its robotics and automation incubator, Wavemaker Labs. The company is one of a number of robotics companies which have recently come out of Wavemaker Labs, and has been looking at crowdfunding for its efforts.
