indie Semiconductor Acquires TeraXion

Aliso Viejo-based indie Semiconductor, a developer of semiconductors for the automotive industry, says it has signed a definitive agreement to acquired TeraXion, a designer and manufacturer of photonic components. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. TeraXion is based in Quebec, and was founded in 2000. The company produces low noise lasers, Bragg gratings and integrated photonic elements which are used for automotive light detection and ranging (LiDAR). Those products are now being heavily used in autonomous vehicle systems. According to indie, the acquisition will help it in the rapidly growing LiDAR market.
