New Summer Accelerator Team Spotlight: Hwalgi
Hello Bruins!

Meet the Hwalgi team! The team is comprised of Andrew Kim and Rishabh Chatterjee – both UCLA alums. Andrew and Rish have been working together for 6 months and are currently participating in the 2021 Summer Accelerator.

Hwalgi is a language-learning web application inspired by Andrew and Rish’s past experiences studying Spanish for several years, only to turn on a telenovela and not understand anything.

To solve this common problem, Hwalgi provides contextual flashcards sourced from popular entertainment with the goal of enabling users to consume TV shows and movies without relying on subtitles. Hwalgi is currently focused on curating Korean content but hopes to expand to other languages in the near future. To learn more, check out Hwalgi’s beta site

SUMMER ACCELERATOR TEAM SPOTLIGHT: OYA FEMTECH APPAREL
Meet OYA Femtech Apparel! The team is comprised of Mitchella Gilbert, Patrick Ayers, and Ashley Sykora. Mitch and Patrick recently graduated from UCLA Anderson, and Ashley recently graduated from UCLA Law! They’ve been working together since fall 2019 and are currently part of the 2021 Summer Accelerator.

OYA is on a mission to make vaginas happier and healthier. According to the CDC, more than 40% of women have vaginal health issues at any time. After conducting interviews with numerous OB-GYNs, the OYA team learned that leggings were exacerbating a lot of these issues – including yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and UTIs.

That’s why OYA created the first OB-GYN approved legging engineered to support vaginal health. OYA’s breathable leggings feature a unique crotch gusset that keeps the area dry and well ventilated. With a months-long waiting list to purchase their leggings, customers love OYA! Interested in purchasing a pair? Check out OYA Femtech Apparel
