Summer Accelerator teams had a busy second week in the program! On Tuesday, teams heard from Michael Greenberg, founder of Retina.AI and ScaleFunder, as part of our weekly Speaker Series. Michael shared insights on the importance of crafting a well-developed narrative around your startup and building a strong relationship with customers early on. On Wednesday, teams heard from Carlos Almonte, Executive Director of Global Marketing at Techstars, as part of our weekly Skill Series workshop. Carlos provided valuable feedback to teams on their websites and marketing strategies. Thank you again, Michael and Carlos!

Meet Benjamin Myers, founder of Flowductive and rising second-year math student! Flowductive is the only one-person team in this year’s Summer Accelerator, and Ben is the youngest member of the 2021 cohort.
At the beginning of the pandemic, Ben noticed that an increase in free time at home was leading to a decrease in productivity and an increase in laziness. It was then that he started working on Flowductive – an app where users can create tasks, events, and Flows to manage their daily routine and stay motivated in a flexible, social, and fun way. Valley Ventures Accelerator Program
What: Opportunity for 10 water, clean energy, and agricultural ventures to participate in an accelerator program
About: Fresno State’s Water, Energy, and Technology Center and the BlueTechValley innovation cluster will provide an opportunity for up to 10 ventures to participate in the sixth cohort of the Valley Ventures accelerator this fall. The accelerator will provide these ventures opportunities to advance commercialization and business development in California and beyond. Note selected ventures do not receive funding and no equity is taken. But, the accelerator charges a fee of $1,500 per venture with $500 as a refundable deposit for successful completion of the two-month VV6 accelerator this fall.

LG NOVA Proto Challenge
What: LG NOVA is looking for innovative, future-impacting companies to build, nurture, and help grow
About: Submit information about your idea or solution and how it furthers the goal of creating a better quality of life in an interconnected future society in order to be invited to the challenge’s pitch sessions. Pitch winners will win $10K in prize money, up to $100K for joint development activities, and an invitation to join the upcoming LG Grand Challenge in the fall, among other prizes.

2021 Women Founders Foundation Fellows Program
What: Program to introduce college women to the world of investing and entrepreneurship
About: After the WFN Fast Pitch Top 5 finalists are chosen, each team of two fellows and their mentor will be assigned a finalist company to analyze for its investment potential and prepare a due diligence report which they will present to the Junior Judges and Fast Pitch Judges. The mentors will be women angels and VCs. A $250 stipend will be given to all Fellows. They will also gain experience by learning about due diligence, studying a company and presenting a live analysis.

VentureWell E-Team Grant Program
What: Supports dedicated science- and engineering-based student teams from across the nation in bringing their high-impact innovation out of the lab and into the market
About: The program is seeking early-stage student teams who are on the path to launching science and tech innovations with a positive social, health, or environmental impact. Selected teams can unlock up to $25,000 in grant funding, along with sponsored entry into their Early-Stage Innovator Training Program.

SEED Lab Pre-Accelerator
What: 8-month pre-accelerator for early-stage social entrepreneurs
About: SEED Lab is an 8-month pre-accelerator for early-stage social entrepreneurs. Developed in partnership with the University of California Riverside Extension, it aims to tap the deep reservoir of unrecognized talent within marginalized and under-served communities and support their efforts to identify and develop pioneering paths out of inherited problems that have buried and muffled those voices. The program is designed to support the implementation of visionary ideas into similarly powerful tools to generate social impact, deepen civic engagement, and bring about empowerment and sustainable change.

WBENC Women & Pride Peer Groups and Community Building Event
What: Event to address and help overcome the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ women business owners
About: Studies show that LGBTQ+ women are underrepresented at every stage of the management pipeline. For LGBTQ+ women, who are workplace minorities in both gender and sexual orientation, the feeling of isolation is common—and particularly challenging—in work environments. The Women & Pride Peer Group was designed to build a community of LGBTQ+ women business owners to voice shared experiences, strategize with one another to overcome problems, and to strengthen the WBENC entrepreneurial ecosystem.

SCALE Fall 2021 Cohort
What: 13-week program for early-stage aerospace startups
About: SCALE is designed to inspire a generation of students, entrepreneurs, and investors to pursue entrepreneurship for the development and advancement of novel technologies with aerospace applications and to build businesses here in Los Angeles. Each team selected for the program will receive personalized instruction and engage with potential corporate clients and investors. The program is designed to help teams set milestones, develop products, find the market fit and get customer traction, and secure the next round of funding.

ASPIRE Program
What: Intensive 7-week program that prepares startups for the investments and partnerships necessary to launch their venture
About: They are seeking seed-stage medtech companies to help pinpoint fundraising needs and develop the deal room materials needed to back up their ask. During this 7-week virtualized program, teams will spend one-on-one time with mentors-in-residence, including VentureWell staff and active investors, as they prepare for investment conversations.
