Rocket Lab Plans Space Force Launch On Thursday

Long Beach-based Rocket Lab is getting set for a launch for the U.S. Space Force (USSF), in a few short hours, on Thursday in New Zealand, according to the company. The company said it is launching a research and development satellite into low Earth orbit (LEO) from its launch complex in New Zealand. The company said the Monolith demonstration satellite will explore and demonstrate the use of a deployable sensor, where the sensor’s mass is a substantial fraction of the total mass of the spacecraft, changing the spacecraft’s dynamic properties and testing ability to maintain spacecraft attitude control.
