Rocket Lab Successfully Launches Military Satellite

Long Beach-based Rocket Lab has successfully launched a military satellite back into space, on a quick recovery from a failed mission in May. The launch–for the U.S. Space Force–launched at 6pm NZ time from New Zealand. The satellite, called “Monolith”, is an experiment designed to see if a large, deployable sensor which is a “substantial fraction of the total mass of the spacecraft” can be used to maintain spacecraft attitude control.
