Sommetrics Scores $11M

Vista, California-based Sommetrics, a startup developing treatments for sleep apnea, said this morning that it has raised $11M in its ongoing Series C funding round. Names of the investors in the round were not announced, however, the company said they included existing shareholders and new investors in the U.S. and Australia. The company said it is targeting up to $16M for the round. The company said the new funding will go to support its trials and to support readiness for commercial launch. Sommetrics device applies a mild external vacuum over the upper airway, and is aimed at subjects with moderate and severe OSA who are unable to use standard therapy with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP).
